As the temperatures rise and schools let out, we are all itching to be outside, enjoying summer fun, and are truly relishing all that is back open and a lot of new additions to The Research Triangle. While some families are hitting the open road, or flying to see relatives, many are simply enjoying the numerous local options availbe in the summer. We hope this guide is useful for those summer residents as well as visitors to the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area. Here are some of our top events and things to do in The Triangle this summer, from Fireworks on The Fourth of July to newly opened attractions and event.

Apex Red, White, and Blue Drive Through 

The Town of Apex is hosting aDrive-Through Red, White and Blue Car Processional on July 3rd, 2021, at 10 a.m. If you are looking to decorate and participate in the parade, you will need to sign up in advance, but all are welcome! This is a fun event for all ages.

Cary Fireworks at Koka

The Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary will host an Independence Day Celebration, on Sunday, July 4th, 2021 featuring Cary Town Band, the NC Symphony, and Fireworks. General admission is free, but tables are available, for a ticket price, available June 4th at 12 p.m. Book now! This is a wonderful outdoor event that is perfect for families.

Chapel Hill Fireworks

Chapel Hill residents and visitors enjoy a traditional fireworks display starting at 9:20pm, Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Southern Community Park, 1000 Sumac Road, Chapel Hill. Durham Bulls - Balls, Bats and Blasts

Play Ball! July 4th, come out to cheer on the Durham Bulls and get an added dose of Americana with a fireworks display after! What is independence day without hot dogs and baseball? Baseball Tickets and Fireworks


Festivals Return in Support of the Eno River Basin!

Are you ready for live music and arts again? The Festival for the Eno is kicking off Saturday, July 3 and July 4 from 10 am to 6 pm. Tickets are $25 per day and $40 per weekend. This is a two day event with crafts festival and live music, in support of preservation efforts of the Eno River Association. The Eno River Association is a non-profit founded in 1966 with a mission to protect the natural, cultural and historic resources of the Eno River basin in northern Durham. We've attended many of these over the years and they are always a lot of fun. Be sure to check out our link below for 7 awesome things to enjoy at the Eno River State Park.

Durham Laser Lights Show 4th of July

Durham County Memorial Stadium will host a free laser light show, viewable from a chair or car! Tickets are free and the show is on Saturday, July 3rd, and Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at 9 p.m. For those who are not fans of fireworks, or with pets and children, this is a nice alternative to enjoy the evening. Durham Children's Independence Day Parade 

Teach civics in a less terrifying way than fireworks with the Children's Independence Day Parade in Durham Central Park. Taking place Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at 9:30 am. This is a free event and kids can decorate bikes, wagons, and scoots with items from Scrap Exchange and parade starts at 10:30 am.
