Larry Tollen and Angela At NZMG Foundation galaThe Noah Z.M. Goetz (NZMG) Foundation 2014 Fall Gala was a great success. The NZMG Foundation is dedicated to helping adopting couples navigate the challenging legal adoption process in North Carolina. They also provide financial assistance for adopting couples in need. The Fall Gala is their only major fundraising event of the year. We’re happy to announce that this year’s event raised just over $7,000 for the charity.

Angela and I are active supporters of the NZMG Foundation and personal friends of the founder Nathaniel and Parul Goetz. Earlier this year we were privileged to help establish a new grant program. At the Gala, we got to meet Dori and Terrence Wilson, the recipients of the inaugural Angela and Larry Tollen Family Grant. The charity presented us with a signed “Building Blocks” poster to acknowledge our contribution.

Larry Tollen at NZMG Foundation FundraiserFor the second year in a row we got to meet and talk with Chris Archer, a pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays who grew up in Clayton. Locals may recognize his name from his time pitching with the Durham Bulls . The story of Chris’s involvement with the NZMG Foundation is a touching one. Originally adopted at the age of two by his maternal grandparents, Chris was inspired to start his own charity, the Archway Foundation, to help children in difficult situations achieve their goals. He never had any relationship with his biological father, and he related to his mother as an older sister. Given Chris’s family background and his passion for helping young children who lack strong family support, the partnership between the Archway Foundation and the NZMG Foundation was a natural fit. It has been our privilege to be a part of the NZMG Foundation, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Foundation in the years to come. While we are proud and encouraged by the impact that the Foundation has already made, we know that this is only the beginning.
