Durham Bulls Athletic ParkIf you listen closely you'll hear the crack of the bat. Spring is running late this year but the 2014 Baseball Season is up and running here in Durham, North Carolina. From T-Ball all the way up to the Durham Bulls we are in full swing this April. Now I like baseball but I am not a huge baseball fan. However, spend some time at a Durham Bulls game and you can't help but become a fan. When my family and I were first considering a move to Durham one of my friends took me to a game. This one night certainly helped to put Durham at the top of our list of places to move. I was amazed by my first sight of the American Tobacco Campus and the ball park itself was also a sight to see. Now game night will be even more exciting with a huge renovation of the park which includes improvements to the field, lights, stands and concessions. We try to take our kids to a few games a year plus our neighborhood typically tries to put together a “Guys Night out at the Bulls” every season. The kids love the park, the show between each inning, lots of activities, the junk food, and the fireworks. Many nights after the game there is an awesome fireworks show that lights up the night sky of downtown Durham which is worth the price of admission itself. “Guys Night” usually includes an early stop at one of the watering holes in the American Tobacco Campus for a couple of pre-game libations and a snack or two. The whole atmosphere itself is full of excitement and to me it reminds me of what going to baseball games was like as a kid. It seems less commercialized, the players really seem to be enjoying themselves, the games are exciting, and the crowd is always into the game.

Even if baseball is not your thing I highly recommend scheduling a night out at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park this Spring. Let's play ball.
