Andrew Palumbo, Broker-In-Charge

I was born and raised in the mountains of southern Vermont in the small ski resort town of Wilmington. My father grew up in the construction field in Connecticut and in the early 1970's he started a Real Estate Sales and Construction Company. I grew up longing to go with dad to the construction site. I particularly enjoyed the site work, riding in the excavators, dump trucks and log skidders. I was most excited when the operators would let me take a turn at the controls. Growing up in the mountains also fueled my passion for sports. As a teenager I lived on the soccer fields, golf courses, and on the ski slopes. In the winter months I skied six days a week and raced competitively throughout high school. Over the years the family business evolved with the times. We always focused on sales and construction but also added stints of time in the appraisal and mortgage businesses. I got my first Real Estate License in 1993 and my experience speaks for itself. Particularly my time spent as an appraiser and general contractor give me insights to the real estate market that a typical Real Estate agent does not have. I know what aspects of an area, or a home, can best drive demand. I have hands on knowledge of the appraisal, mortgage, and underwriting process. I understand how homes are put together and can easily pick out quality and condition issues, good and bad. I will quickly walk you through a home inspection report, showing you what problems are big and what issues are not so important, plus I know how to best attack any needed repairs. I will make every effort to attend the entire home inspection with you which is not standard practice for most agents. I can also help you prepare your home for sale with ease. I can set you up with trusted contractors in the area along with designers and staging consultants to make sure you get top dollar for your home. In short, my experience, makes your buying or selling process much easier and much more profitable. Experience, Integrity, Results. Local Knowledge: After too many long cold winters to count my wife and our two small children decided to relocate to Durham/Chapel Hill. I know what it’s like to uproot your family and make a big move to an unfamiliar place. I understand how hard it is to decide on a new home in a new area and I do everything I can to make your relocation easier. We live in Durham and work in Chapel Hill and I know the areas inside and out. We have now called southwest Durham our home since early 2007 and could not be happier with the community we have chosen to raise our children. When we moved to Hope Valley Green in southwest Durham, one of the first neighbors we met welcomed us to the neighborhood said “this is a great place to live, the Triangle is kid heaven”, and he wasn't kidding. Both of my kids have thrived in the Durham Public School System, finishing elementary school at Hope Valley Elementary and now are currently enrolled at Githens Middle School and Jordan High School. We have been actively involved in the school system and currently I am the Treasurer of the Githens Middle School Athletic Booster Club. We also spend a lot of time on both the Soccer and the Baseball fields. One of the things we first loved about Durham was hitting a Durham Bulls game, such a great time, even if you are not a huge baseball fan. As the kids got older they started playing club soccer and currently play for Triangle United and North Carolina Football Club. I have volunteered for many years as a team manager and love to get to as many games as I can. My son spent several years with South Durham Little League and played some Travel Baseball with a Durham based team. Being so involved in sports has allowed me to meet many diverse Triangle families, learn about the area, and get our family firmly planted in Durham. I'm also now an expert on the fastest route to any sports complex from the coast to the mountains! In short, if you are looking to buy or sell in the Durham/Chapel Hill area I am well prepared to give you the expertise you need in all areas to complete a successful and rewarding real estate transaction.
