MJR Homes - NC Custom Home Builder

When choosing a builder, the choice is often between a small, local builder, and a large, regional, or national company. There are benefits to each, but MJR Homes offers the best of both worlds.

Building Custom Homes In The Triangle Region

MJR Homes - Living RoomFounded by Mike Reiser, MJR Homes is a small, custom builder, completing between six and ten homes in the Triangle area each year. That’s a small number compared to the big builders who construct hundreds of homes each year in the Triangle alone.

To Reiser, staying small keeps him close to the side of the business he loves. “I enjoy focusing on the little details that make a home unique,” he said. “Building custom homes keeps me closer to the customer and the product.

The houses MJR Homes builds are typically between $400,000 and $1 million. Reiser’s goal is to allow customers more freedom of choice in building their home. "We try to create a unique home for each customer,” he said. “We work with customers and consider together how they will live in their home and then design the details to fit their lifestyle."

Personalized Service With Big-Company Benefits

Reiser started MJR Homes after a 25-year career working for large, national commercial and residential builders. During that time, he learned all of the ins and outs of the building industry, including land acquisition, building sciences, and best practices.

He believes that’s what sets him apart from other builders. “My large company experience gives me greater insight into efficient building practices,” he said, adding that MJR Homes offers warranties, energy information, detailed design and engineering on all of their homes -- services typically associated with big builders. It's the best of both worlds,” said Reiser.

Something that’s especially important to Reiser, and his customers, is energy efficiency. While many builders build to high energy efficiency standards, Reiser takes it an extra step. “Every house we build is certified by a third-party energy expert,” he said. “We want our customers to know they are getting an energy efficient home that will be comfortable for years to come.

But most of all, Reiser enjoys building custom homes because of the details that go into making a home truly unique. “It’s fun, and a passion for me,” he said.

MJR Homes builds homes in communities around the Triangle, including Heather Glen in Raleigh, and Claremont in Chapel Hill. For more information about MJR Homes, visit mjrhomes.com.
