Homes by Dickerson - Home Builder Showcase

Homes by Dickerson builds high-performance homes around customers’ lives.

One of the nation’s leading builders of high-performance homes can be found right here in the Triangle. Homes by Dickerson is known for building homes to the highest environmental and energy-efficient standards, but what they do best is create happy homeowners.

Every home built by Homes by Dickerson is Energy Star® rated, but it doesn’t stop there. “Energy Star® is just the start,” said Julia Reinert, Marketing Manager for Homes by Dickerson, adding that the company also builds all of its homes to meet the National Green Building standard and North Carolina HERO code.

The reason for building this way is simple. “It’s our passion,” Reinert said. “All of our homes are built the same way.”

Some of the environmental and energy-efficient features built into their homes include formaldehyde-free insulation, tankless water heaters, right-sized heating and air conditioning systems, conditioned crawl spaces and low-e windows.

As a result, Homes by Dickerson is a leader in building efficient, green homes. In fact, their homes account for nearly five percent of all of the National Green Building standard homes built in the country.

But their commitment to high-performance homes is only part of Homes by Dickerson’s story.

While energy efficiency is important to their customers, what really sets Homes by Dickerson apart is their commitment to creating the “Home of Your Life.”

“We are a true custom builder, which means we can build anything the customer asks for,” said Reinert. According to her, this means listening to the customer, what they want, what they need, and how they want to live and enjoy their homes, then designing a home to fit those needs.

Every home Homes by Dickerson builds is 100 percent custom and a one-of-a-kind. Sometimes, customers start with one of Homes by Dickerson’s existing floor plans and modify it based on their needs. This is what my wife I did when we had Homes by Dickerson build our home in Briar Chapel, last year. Other times, the builder’s on-staff architect will create an entirely new design.

Either way, the result is a home designed around that customer. This approach can be seen in the company’s “Home of your Life” manifesto.

Homes by Dickerson is able to provide this level of service because they are a local company based in the Triangle. “We don’t have a corporate office somewhere making decisions for us,” Reinert said. “We are a team of 41 dedicated people, committed to being leaders in the industry.”

Communities, Lots, or Existing Homes — They Do It All!

Homes by Dickerson builds over 160 homes a year, mostly in planned communities such as Barton’s Grove in the Raleigh metro area, Croasdaile Farms in Durham, and Briar Chapel in Chapel Hill. Buyers can select lots for custom building or choose a move-in-ready home.

Homes by Dickerson also offers a scattered lot program. They can work with customers to build on property they already own, or help them find land in a location of their choice.

As a custom builder, Homes by Dickerson typically builds homes between $300,000 and $1 million, with a wide variety of floor plans, features and sizes.
