Tools, refrigerators, outdoor toys, gardening equipment, and a LOT of dust are what many Realtors and the buyers see when they view garage. It is definitely not a really appealing selling point of a home for most, but it can be an asset if it is organized correctly. The good news is, that it is not that difficult! We combed the housekeeping blogs and home improvement hacks for the best tips for organizing your garage so it helps the sale of your home. Even if you are not considering selling your home, these hacks will definitely help you enjoy your garage more!

Pegboard Hacks

Lawnmowers, Shovels and Rakes, oh my! It is really scary to come into a garage with so many menacing tools and little organization. Pegboards are brilliant at making sense of these objects and can declutter your garage easily and inexpensively. Just add hooks to the pegboard and arrange your tools in a way that makes sense and enjoy the freedom of more walking and working space in your garage. Just make certain to secure them securely to the studs and you're good to go.

Bins and Shelves

Many of the home organization shows and blogs show pictures of huge amounts of bins and shelves, we are not an exception. Even if your bins need to be cleaned out from time to time, storing away items such as extension cords, light bulbs, sprinkler heads, and tools, is a great way to remove debris from the garage, in a hurry. Stacking is always your friend. Be sure to label your bins and go through them often.

Bike Racks and Outdoor Toy Organization

Investing in a good bike rack is well worth it. It preserves your bikes and gives you back square footage in your garage for more items. Also, another space for bins and shelves are for outdoor toys. Frisbees, soccer goals, or maybe you are a fan of outdoor dining and store cookware in the garage, this is another application of bins and shelve systems, or racks to make the best use of your garage space for other activities.

Garden, Repair, and Craft Stations

Now comes the fun hacks for the packed garage, when you have binned, racked, and pegged odd-shaped items in your garage neatly, then you can repurpose the space for enjoyable stations. Gardening, crafting, and repair stations are three that are great uses of a corner, or two of your garage. These do not cost a huge amount either. You can erect shelves in an hour and they do not need to be enclosed, put a standing workbench or desk with a stool, and you are ready to grow, create, or repair.

We hope you enjoyed these hacks for a packed garage! If you are considering a much bigger project for removing clutter from garages and homes altogether, we specialize in downsizing and home selling in The Triangle. Reach out to My NC Homes today!
