Carolina Ballet presents The Nutcracker

Dec. 17-24

Nothing says the holidays for many of us, like getting dressed up and going to see The Nutcracker. Carolina Ballet's holiday classic is the only production in the country using illusions created by the magician Rick Thomas. This year, The Nutcracker has characters levitate, disappear and reappear! There are 12 performances at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, from December 17-24.

The Merry Market at Moore Square

Fri. and Sat., Nov. 19-Dec. 18

From the organizers of Raleigh Night Market, The Merry Market is a five-weekend holiday evening market at Moore Square featuring music, entertainment and local artisan vendors. This is a great place to support local with your holiday decorations or last minute holiday shopping!



North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival Cary

Nov. 19, 2021-Jan. 9, 2022

The North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival is back, bringing more than 20 stunning lantern installations to Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. Move over zoo lights, these lanterns contain thousands of LED lights and make up an one-hour walking tour. Additionally, there are nightly performances featuring martial arts, dance, acrobatics, and other celebrations of Chinese culture.

Magic of Lights

Nov. 19, 2021-Jan. 2, 2022

Are you looking for a less intensive holiday light show, from the comfort of your car? Magic of Lights at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek is a great option and features all the typical holiday scenes and much more! It is way more than lights now that these installations use the latest LED technology and digital animations. Tickets start at $20 per car.

The Rink at Red Hat Amphitheater

Nov. 20-Jan. 1

This is a brand NEW event in the heart of downtown Raleigh! The Rink is presented by UNC Health and is a natural ice skating rink with views of the Raleigh skyline. This is an exceptional treat for The Triangle, and really a great tradition to start!

Nights of Lights at Dorothea Dix Park

Nov. 20-Dec. 24

Illuminated trees, light displays, and local art installations comprise this year's Nights of Lights Drive-Thru Light Show at Dorothea Dix Park. In its’ second year, this event features a 1.3-mile driving route with oak trees, open fields, and rolling hills, a perfect backdrop for amazing lights. It is $15 per vehicle.

Lake Myra Christmas Lights

Nov. 24-Dec. 31

The drive-in lights at Lake Myra are truly spectacular with nearly 400,000 lights synced to holiday music. It is a quintessential experience created by the Williams family of Wendell.  You can park or stand and see the show which is about 45 minutes. It is also FREE! This year there is a walking component also if you wanted to bundle up.

Downtown Raleigh Illuminate Art Walk

Dec. 3, 2021-Jan. 7, 2022

Looking for something with a bit more edge this holiday season? Try the light-based art walk. This is a five-week activation in downtown Raleigh's in the Fayetteville St. and Glenwood South districts. Illuminate is an amazing showcase of public art in plazas and underutilized space. Works include large-scale interactive installations and light-based sculptures and projection art.

Raleigh Little Theatre presents Cinderella

Dec. 3-19

Cinderella is returning to Raleigh Little Theatre and is a musical comedy must. Visually stunning and side-splitting, this musical comedy version of Cinderella is inspired by the style of British Pantos. It features the Royal Ball taking place on Christmas Eve, adding to the season.
