Halloween Festivities in the Triangle

There is something for everyone this Halloween.

While Trick-or-Treat tends to be for the little ones going door-to-door the yearly tradition can be enjoyed by everyone. This year Halloween falls on a Wednesday, but the festivities will begin the weekend prior. If you find yourself in Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Hillsborough, or Pittsboro we have the top activities for you.

Cary

Cary has a host of activities happening the weekend before Halloween. You can find costume dance parties, a harvest festival, outdoor mall crawls, and monster mashes. Our picks are off the beaten path or bring together families with a small-town community feel.

Bond Park

 

Pumpkin Flotilla Forty carved pumpkins will float on the lake in Bond Park. To make sure your pumpkin qualifies review the rules and entry times.

 

Downtown Park

Cary’s Great Pumpkin Carve  Carve a pumpkin to be lit for display and entered into a contest and a family-friendly showing of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" Saturday, October 27, 2:00PM - 8:00 PM

Chapel Hill - Carrboro

Chapel Hill and Carrboro have trick or treats and the town center festivals. The community brings a teaching aspect to festivities with the kids at the Botanical Garden to engage young minds amidst the candy and treats.

 

North Carolina Botanical Garden

BOOtanical Pumpkins in the Garden Bring a carved pumpkin to enter into the contest and spend some time making potions, meeting critters, designing a candy catapult, or creating leaf art. Friday, October 26, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM.

 

Carrboro Towns Commons

Halloween Carnival Enjoy carnival activities, games, and programs for all ages. Friday, October 26, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Durham

In Durham you'll find a wide variety of Halloween weekend activities that range from campfires, hayrides, and ghost tours to experiencing a zombie apocalypse. Our top features include a free classical music concert or the other extreme of Xtreme Kombat.

 

Durham Central Park

Duke Wind Symphony A Halloween Spooktacular performed by Durham Community Concert Band and Duke Wind Symphony on the lawn at Durham Central Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Saturday, October 27, 3:00 PM.

 

Xtreme Kombat Park

Xtreme Haunt: A Zombie Shooting Experience Ride a 40-foot military truck and take aim at roaming zombies in the night with paintballs. Zip lines and mini escape room challenges available too. Check dates and times here.

 

Halloween Pumpkins

 

Hillsborough

The quaint town of Hillsborough has a great walking tour that takes you through the historic district. Get to know the many small businesses that are loved by the Hillsborough residents and perhaps enjoy some of the fine dining options.

 

Downtown Hillsborough

Pittsboro

Pittsboro has grown in popularity with more restaurants and small businesses. Come out to enjoy an old favorite in Fearrington Village or make your way to downtown.

Pumpkinfest Enjoy a stroll through the Village Center and see over 80 creatively carved pumpkins. There will be live music, food, and spooky brews. October 30, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
