While grocery stores stock up on all of the current fruits and veggies, there is nothing fresher than buying your goods directly from the farmer at your local farmer’s market.

Both Andrew and I are serious cooks, and one of the many things we love about living here in North Carolina is our access to high quality fresh foods.

The Triangle Area is blessed with a plethora of farmers’ markets, so there is no reason you can’t enjoy delicious fresh foods this summer. Many of these markets offer far more than just fruits and vegetables. Many offer a number of other foods…

Durham Bulls Athletic ParkIf you listen closely you'll hear the crack of the bat. Spring is running late this year but the 2014 Baseball Season is up and running here in Durham, North Carolina. From T-Ball all the way up to the Durham Bulls we are in full swing this April. Now I like baseball but I am not a huge baseball fan. However, spend some time at a Durham Bulls game and you can't help but become a fan. When my family and I were first considering a move to Durham one of my friends took me to a game. This one night certainly helped to put Durham at the top of our list of places to move. I was amazed by my first sight of the American Tobacco Campus and the ball park itself was also a sight to see. Now game night will be even more exciting with a huge renovation of the park…

Triangle Restaurant Week 2014It’s that time of year once again; starting tomorrow 1/20/2014 it’s the annual Triangle Restaurant Week 2014, time to check out the many great restaurants that have bought Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill and the Triangle national (and well deserved) recognition for our food scene. I love this year’s motto, “Keep Calm and Dine On”

Unless you either don’t eat or don’t like food, this coming week is your week. You’ve got the opportunity to try 3 course dinners for $30 at some of the top restaurants throughout the Triangle.

Special kudos for Durham’s own Guglehupf Bakery/Cafe which just a few days ago was awarded the Good Food Award in San Francisco (this is the Foodie equivalent of an Oscar) for their Smoked Hogs Head Cheese (trust me it tastes much…

Butterfly at Museum Of LifeThe staff really care here. This place isn't just a museum where you can look and read about the subject, you actually get to participate when learning! They have live demonstrations indoors and in the outside areas, they have staff to explain the scientific principles behind the exhibits. It is a real jewel here in Durham.

“Best kid place in Durham”

We went with my two kids and my parents and spent the entire day. There were several exhibits inside that are more for older kids. There was a nice train ride outside (make sure you make an early reservation, it fills up fast) and a petting farm. The butterfly garden was well kept (and humid). There was a large exhibit for the wolves and bears in the back. My older child loved the dinosaur path. Free…
