Food

Bon Apetit Magazine ranked Chapel Hill as one of the foodiest small towns in America and for good reason. Many chefs, that are James Beard awarded and Michelin recognized, choose Chapel Hill. There are really amazing dining opportunities in Chapel Hill and it makes it a very attractive option for those moving to the area to take advantage of the new tech job market. There can be long lines for new restaurants and with so many college students in the area, it is a lively dining experience more than relaxing. Our favorite Chapel Hill Restaurants are Hawthorne and Wood, Tallula's, Osteria Georgi, Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen, Sutton's Drug Store, Lantern, and Que Chula Craft Tacos. College Town 

The University of North Carolina is one of the oldest Universities in the United States. The perks that come with proximity to such a critically acclaimed university are manifold. Higher education hubs offer more diversity, there are incredible museums, excellent hospitality, and arts. Also worth noting is the sports culture. UNC-Chapel Hill has one of the best basketball programs in the country and the alumni and fans really are FANS. Some remark that the University has effectively merged with the town. It is full of students nearly night and day, and some people prefer a slower pace. In this case, we might tell buyers to consider neighboring Carrboro

Housing Costs

Chapel Hill has a very strong economy. The median household income is around $73,000 and average household income is approximately $123,000 as such, housing is more expensive. In 2022 the average home price is just under$540,000 Average rental prices in Chapel Hill are around $1500 for a one-bedroom. Right now, rents are increasing at a rapid rate, and buying is often a much better option in Chapel Hill. Depending on your budget and where you are in your stage of life, whether you want to be in a more urban area with lively events daily, or you prefer a more laid back urban lifestyle, there are Research Triangle options that might be better fits than Chapel Hill.
