4 can't-miss breweries in the Triangle, NC

The Triangle is a beer-lover’s paradise. With dozens of breweries in the area, and new ones popping up all the time, the area is experiencing a craft-beer renaissance. But what are the can’t-miss breweries in the Triangle?

We asked Kyle Rubeling, an area beer enthusiast who blogs about North Carolina brews, to tell us the four breweries visitors and residents alike should be sure to visit. Here are his recommendations:

Fullsteam in Durham

Visitors to Durham will want to pay a visit to Fullsteam. The brewery’s mission is to put some South in your mouth, creating Full Steam Brewery courtesy of Durham Convention Centerbeer that “celebrates the culinary and agricultural heritage of the South.”

To do this, they buy ingredients from southern farmers when possible. The result is beers like their Carver, a light lager brewed with North Carolina sweet potatoes.

Bond Brothers in Cary

One of the Triangle’s newest breweries, Bond Brothers is a key part of the revival of downtown Cary. With a spacious taproom, a family-friendly atmosphere, and the ever-present food trucks, it’s a favorite among Cary beer enthusiasts with their kids in tow.

But it’s more than the atmosphere. Bond Brothers is putting out world-class beer. One of their best is their Salted Plum Sorcery, a sour gose made with plums and Himalayan salt. It’s not for the uninitiated.

Big Boss in Raleigh

One of the oldest craft breweries in the Triangle, Big Boss has been in business for just over 10 years. Located just north of downtown Raleigh, the brewery also offers one of the area’s most popular run clubs.

With many beers on tap, they offer something for everyone. For those looking for something more complex, Big Boss offers their Strange Cargo Series -- beers aged in bourbon, wine, tequila and brandy barrels.

Trophy in Raleigh

What goes better with beer than pizza? Trophy offers up some of the best of each. Located just west of downtown Raleigh, it’s a popular spot in the warm months where people can sit outside and enjoy some of the best pizza in the state. Trophy Brewing courtesy of BrewsTravelers365.com

To wash that pizza down, locals usually opt for Trophy Wife, an easy-drinking session IPA.

These are just a few of the breweries that dot Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, and other communities. If you’re a hop-head, you’ll never go wanting in the Triangle.
