This weekend the NY Times Travel section featured an article 36 Hours in Durham Why am I not surprised that they realized what those of us living here already knew; Durham Rocks!

Check out the link to see some of what their writers thought was note worthy here in Durham; then post your own comments on what they missed (a heck of a lot)...

I admit it, I’m prejudiced. My wife and I moved here from Vermont approximately 7 years ago for no particular reason. We were fortunate enough when we arrived to be able to afford to live anywhere we choose and after looking around a good bit we choose to live not far from Duke University in Durham, and we love our adopted home.

Unlike the other areas I work in as a Realtor, Durham is a true city; it’s colorful, culturally diverse, filled with history, has an amazing arts scene and without a doubt is the culinary capital of North Carolina. From inexpensive taco and barbecue joints, Indian, Thai and vegetarian restaurants to nationally acclaimed gourmet four-star fine dining establishments and everything in-between. Durham’s restaurants are continually found on Gourmet and Bon Appetite’s list of top restaurants and hottest tables in the country. To an ex-executive chef like me this is reason enough to live here.

Durham has a lot to be proud of. Duke University & Medical Center, NCCU, the Durham Bulls and Research Triangle Park, and opening later this year our new world-class state of the art Durham Performing Arts Center that will be a keystone in the downtown development.

Sports, arts, music and theater, are all alive and doing well in Durham. A rapidly developing downtown area promises to soon offer ultra contemporary living options, along with the wide variety of housing opportunities presently available.
