3 Best International Restaurants in Cary, NC

Although largely known for its great master-planned communities, Cary is also home to an abundance of restaurants offering up savory flavors from around the world. In part due to its diverse population, you can find everything from handmade Italian pasta and fresh sushi, to mouthwatering briskets and spicy samosas.

If you're eager to mix things up for date night or are eager to try something new, here are a few of my personal favorites:

Sushi-Thai

Every Friday and Saturday night, Sushi-Thai is packed with families and friends enjoying great food and company. Staffed by some of the most genuine and personable people I have ever met, dining at Sushi-Thai is always an excellent experience.

In addition to sushi, which is sometimes served in beautiful wooden boats, Sushi-Thai offers an extensive menu of classic Japanese and Thai dishes. Some standouts are the vegetable tempera and the yakisoba noodles. Oh, and don’t forget to order a side salad, as its tangy ginger dressing is outstanding.

La Shish

Located in an unassuming strip mall, La Shish offers delicious authentic Greek and Middle Eastern dishes in a cozy and distinctive setting. The walls are filled with mirrors and pictures in unique frames of all shapes and sizes. The dim chandeliers, curtains, and oriental rugs serve to set the restaurant’s intimate mood.

La Shish offers many entrée platters, which enable customers to try several of their various offerings, such as the kabobs, which are the best around, falafel, and stuffed grape leaves. Leave room for dessert; trust me; the baklava and tiramisu are to die for as well.

Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen

Lucky 32 offers the traditional southern food that North Carolina is known for – but with a heavy emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Their philosophy is that food tastes best when “the nearer the farm to the fork.” They are also motivated by environmental sustainability and the desire to source food in a socially responsible manner.

Lucky 32’s grandiose interior and exterior enhance the dining experience. Patrons have the option to sit at umbrella covered tables on a lovely shrubbery-lined outdoor patio. They may also sit inside and enjoy the restaurant’s ornate décor.

Some of my family’s favorite dishes at Lucky 32 include the black bean cakes, cornmeal crusted catfish, and white bean puree.
