The Triangle region has been dubbed as the "Smithsonian" of the South. Famous authors, recording studios, and all incarnations of the performing arts thrive here. Here are some of our favorite venues, their neighborhoods, and what is happening this Spring. From open-air amphitheaters to intimate theaters, the Triangle has it all, we invite you to take a read and then get out and explore for yourself!
Koka Booth Amphitheatre:
Location: 8003 Regency Pkwy, Cary, NC 27518
Spring Happenings: Tacos y Taps, April 6, Festival of all things Tacos and Beer.
Neighborhood: Nestled within Symphony Lake Park in Cary, Koka Booth Amphitheatre provides a ideal location for community events with lush greenery and great architecture of the actual Amphitheatre.
North Raleigh Arts And Creative Theatre (NRACT):
Location: 7713-51 Lead Mine Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615
Spring Happenings: Always, Patsy Cline, January 19-February 4, Chicken and Biscuits, March 8-24
Neighborhood: Situated in North Raleigh, NRACT is a neighborhood community theatre with exceptional productions amidst tree lined streets. North Raleigh offers great real estate and we were fortunate enough to represent a seller in 2023. Many find the prices in North Raleigh to be more affordable than others in the Triangle, if you are interested please reach out.
Carolina Ballet
Location: Fletcher Opera Theatre, 2 East South Street. Raleigh, NC 2760
Spring Happenings: Rhapsody in Blue, The Little Mermaid
Neighborhood: Downtown Raleigh continues to grow and is a real hub of culture. Housing can be more affordable in Raleigh, compared to Cary or Chapel Hill, but for those looking to buy for the first time or are looking to buy with a lower budget, this may present a challenge as the downtown area is among the more expensive in Wake county.
Motorco Music Hall:
Location: 723 Rigsbee Ave, Durham, NC 27701
Spring Happenings: Definitely click here, this has a packed calendar of disco nights, local music, and national Indy acts. This venue is among our personal favorites.
Neighborhood: Located in the heart of Durham's Central Park district, Motorco Music Hall is in a great neighborhood with boutiques, cafes, and art galleries. The neighborhood's has an industrial history that has transformed into a contemporary artshub. Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC):
Location: 123 Vivian St, Durham, NC 27701
Spring Happenings: Girl from the North Country, On Your Feet, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Neighborhood: DPAC, situated in the American Tobacco Historic District, is surrounded by revitalized tobacco warehouses. The district is a testament to Durham's commitment to preserving its historical roots while embracing modern development, There are also substantial luxury townhome developments in the area. Having travelled extensively and been in many of the top arts venues around the country, I can say with confidence DPAC is a world class venue.
American Tobacco Campus:
Location: 300 Blackwell St, Durham, NC 27701
Spring Happenings: View the Event Guide!
Neighborhood: American Tobacco Campus is a destination in itself. The campus is a readapted urban space that is a former Tobacco Factory, a crop which played a significant role in the development of the Triangle. Now this campus offers restaurants, green spaces, and historic architecture. It serves as a cultural and social hub in the heart of Durham.
The Pinhook:
Location: 117 W Main St, Durham, NC 27701
Spring Happenings: View Events Here! Something is happening all the time!
Neighborhood: The Pinhook is also in the downtown Durham area, and is in a trendy area with an array of local businesses, representing artisans, artists, and with cafes and award winning dining.
The Cat's Cradle:
Location: 300 E Main St, Carrboro, NC 27510
Spring Happenings:
Neighborhood: Carrboro is one of our most sought after neighborhoods, consistently. It offers boutiques, cafes, and has a small town feel. The Cat's Cradle is another of My NC Homes favs.Explore Carrboro real estate here!
Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts:
Location: 2 E South St, Raleigh, NC 27601
Spring Happenings: Debussy La Mer - NC Symphony, The Magic of Rodgers and Hammerstein - NC Symphony, Shen Yun Performing Arts 2024
Neighborhood: Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts is also located in downtown Raleigh. The neighborhood offers a mix of cultural attractions, restaurants, and shops, and is more commercial than Carrboro or Cary, while not as industrial as Durham.
PNC Arena:
Location: 1400 Edwards Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607
Spring Happenings: Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Pitbull: The Trilogy Tour, CINCH World's Toughest Rodeo
Neighborhood: Located near the NC State University campus, PNC Arena is part of the West Raleigh neighborhood. Being situated close to a university, like much of The Triangle, it offers college energy coupled with family-friendly spaces, and sports enthusiasm, which is perfect for arena-style revelry.
From the modern architecture at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre to the iconic The Cat's Cradle, performing arts venues in the Triangle offer a little something for everyone whether symphonies, classical performances, indie music, or contemporary theater. Enjoy Spring in the Triangle.
