Art Galleries in Pittsboro

Pittsboro is a town that thrives in the arts all year long. It is small (just over 4,000 people) and quiet, which makes it perfect for the development of artists and musicians, and many of them come here for that reason.

Chatham Artists Guild

A recognized group that encourages people all over North Carolina to get into the arts is the Chatham Artists Guild, which has been around for 24 years. They also aim to connect artists with patrons, and provide training for artists.    Chatham Artists Guild Entrance

They regularly host various exhibits of local artists, as well as the works of artists from around the state. The Studio Tour is free, and introduces the artists, their local studios and their art.

Cooper Mays Pottery

If you are looking for unique pottery to add to your home, you need to visit the Cooper Mays Pottery.

The pottery is run by a mother-son team and has been making exquisite pottery for over 25 years. Each piece is made by hand, and then hand-painted to create beautiful one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Their pottery is also sold in many stores around North Carolina.

The Locally Grown Art Studio

The Locally Grown Art Studio offers classes in glass-blowing. Instructor Jonathan Davis offers lessons for students ranging from beginner level to advanced. Davis also sells his own amazing glass art works in the studio.

The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music Dance

The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music Dance is held in the spring and fall of each year. It is sponsored by the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center and aims to provide a celebration of family-friendly music, dance, education, and art.

Fifty different bands were scheduled at this year's festival, and guests are already looking forward to next year.

The Fearrington Folk Art Show

Fearrington Village Entrance If you want to see local art that is inspired by folk art, or native art, outsider art or  primitivism, you can find it at the Fearrington Folk Art Show. This exhibit is held once a  year and the art is available for purchase.

The show features self-taught artists from all over the Southeast. All the proceeds from  the sale of the art go to the artists. A special Collector's Preview is a reservation-only  event and those with a ticket can purchase art, too.

The LiquidAmbar Gallery

The LiquidAmbar Gallery is a combination of a studio, gallery and store. It allows visitors to view and purchase one-of-a-kind art directly from the artist, at the studio where it was created. This not only allows visitors to purchase art that no one else has, but it provides a unique, memorable experience.

Other Popular Events

The Pittsboro Street Fair in October features live music and performances, as well as vendors offering arts and crafts. Another popular event is the Pittsboro First Sunday Artisan Fair Market. This event takes place on the first Sunday of each month. There is art, live music, food, and fun.
